Welcome

Hey Vault Hunters, this is me, Murph. Well actually it's Maya my level 50 Siren.

I am a huge Borderlands fan. I have spent way more hours playing the games than I would like to admit to my girlfriend. Borderlands 1 and all it's four DLCs and now Borderlands 2 and it's two DLCs to date.
Now, as well as the great humor, stylish graphics, wild adventures and characters. Borderlands is about the loot. Insane guns, shields and relics.

In this blog I will show some of my best loot and how I came to get it. I must point out that all I show and tell is legit. Everything I have is from playing (with a small amount of farming, due to repeating certain boss fights) and not from mods or trades.

Please post comments, stories and loot shots of you own. I love to see and read them.

The Legend Begins

As anyone who has ever played Borderlands knows, the weapons and collecting them is great fun. They are colour coded and ranked to you level or close to it. The main colour stages are:

White: very basic vanilla guns.
Green: a bit more spice but still simple.
Blue: now we're talking, the fun begins.
Purple: top notch fun sticks.
Orange: Legendary, rare and highly acclaimed.

The Orange, Legendary weapons are super rare. You will be extremely lucky to find them. I know some people who are still trying and have had no luck yet.

There are many chats and videos out there with tips on how to play and who to kill to get them, some useful and some not so. But saying that there are bosses who are famed for dropping certain orange gems.

Due to my many hours on Pandora, I have quite a few Legendary and other great weapons I will show you.

Lets start with my first Legendary. From my first ever playthrough. Which was very lucky and exciting.
Here she is.

A level 40 Hornet. I was lucky enough to get this from a slot machine loot goon in the Tundra. While on a mission for Tiny Tina, probably tormenting poor old Fishstick.

I killed the slot machine goon, the first I had ever seen and so far the only one I have seen to date. I jumped on his back, pulled the lever and boom! A fanfare and out pops this little beauty.

Over 2000 damage and corrosive. Little did I know at the time just how much this gun would save my ass in places like Opportunity, where the town is crawling with robots.

Like all Dahl guns this pistol burst fires while zoomed. So it's like having a mini machine gun. The first time I shot it at a Hyperion Loader my jaw dropped. It tore through them. Until then, every robot I had encountered was like a boss fight. Not any more, my Hornet rocked and kept me happy for many levels thereafter.

Well Time has passed since my level 40 first playthrough and I am please to report I have found another Hornet since. A level 50 Neutralizing Hornet with 7741 damage and 3605.9 Corrosive damage.Wow!

This was dropped by Knuckledragger, yes the same Knuckledragger Bullymong from the start of the game who steals CL4P-TPs eye. I had another encounter with him after revisiting the area and this was my reward.

If you have a Hornet, tell me about it of post pics, love to see them.

Double Trouble

This is one of my most exciting battle tales to date. It was at the end my second playthrough. I was working my way down Heroes Pass, I love that stretch. I go back to that a lot.

Any way, I got to the end and opened the chest near the entrance to the Vault Of The Warrior and up pops this beauty.

My Maggie. 4704x6. Kaboom! this is one powerful pistol. Because it's a Jacobs gun you can fire it a quickly as you like, so that's a lot of damage in a short time. It only has an 8 round revolver but the reload is quick. This particular Maggie is the Bowie which give you extra melee punch too. This is a handsome gun too. Nice colours and styling. For thouse of you that don't know, the Maggie gets it's name from Maggie Simpson who shot Mr.Burns.

So I went into the Vault of the Warrior with a skip in my step, all please with my new pistol. I fought the Warrior to the bitter end and stood under his spray of loot and started my rounds picking up money, ammo and looking for weapons. Then, off in the distance, I spotted an orange beam. Thinking it was one of the many orange lava glows that are common to the vault I strolled over to make sure. I could not believe my eyes, another Legendary! Now to put this into perspective. You can play Borderlands for hours, days, weeks without a sniff of a rare weapon. So to get two on the space of minutes is a miracle. But here she is:

My beloved Infinity. This Vladof pistol plays the trick of boasting just a single bullet clip, so it looks kind of useless. Well, don't be fooled. This gun, as suggested by it's name, never runs out of ammo. it repeat fires when you hold the trigger and you could keep your finger there all day. This is the best thing to have on deck. Mine it always on slot four. So you know when all else fails and you are out of all ammo, the Infinity is still good to go.

Tell me your tales of loot. I love to hear them.

The Holy Trinity

For this section I wanted to show you my three favorite guns. Why three, well you'll soon see. They are all Plasma Casters and all Purple/Pinks, which I believe is a Purple grade weapon with added E-Tech. These are better than any of the Legendary weapon I own to date.

I'll introduce the ladies one at a time. Firstly the Brisk Plasma Caster with Flaming Elemental. Just look at this  beauty. 6513 damage with a swift fire rate. Although it only has a 13.5% ignite chance, believe me, it ignites everything. I tend to be an ammo Scrooge and mostly use it single shot, because that is often enough with flesh and blood enemies. But when you do need to open it up, man those bullets fly.

Next up is my Brisk Plasma Caster Shock Elemental. This gun loves taking down shields. But most of all it loves to tear through The Warrior. I can take him down very quickly with this. These first two plasma casters are Tediore so they also are thrown with a grenade like effect upon reload. Which just adds to their appeal.

The third is my Lucid Plasma Caster. My mech masher. This gun is Maliwan in build. Maliwan guns are always fun. Great design, great colours and always elemental. Just like the others this gun has the E-tech caster add-on so it spews heaps of robot burning acid on anything that stands in it's way. It takes down super badass loaders in seconds.

So you can probably tell I love these guns. They are nearly always slots 1 2 and 3 with my Infinity pistol on 4. Regarding the pickup of these guns, I'm not sure. I think they were all chest finds, maybe the Golden Chest in Sanctuary.

I think everyone has their favorite gun manufacturers for different reasons. Mine are Maliwan and Tediore for sure.

Please let me know your favorite guns and their makers.

The Power Behind The Scenes

As a follow up to my Holy Trinity piece I wanted to write this tribute to the bass player and the drummer aka  the shields and mods. The plasma casters I showed you in that article are made even more wonderful by the support they get.

Firstly It's The Bee. The Legendary amp damage shield with the zero drain.

While wearing this and it is fully charged, my weapons gain an additional 35000 damage, which, to be honest would make even a pointed stick lethal. The stats you are looking at here are post nerf. For those of you who don't know the history. Gearbox decided the the Bee was too powerful so they nerfed the levels by quite a lot.

I got my Bee from killing Hunter Hellquist in the Arid Nexus Boneyard. An easy mission with a great reward.

They next big player is this fantastic class mod.

This Wild Cat mod adds +95% SMG damage the cost of a slightly lowered accuracy. I found this in a red chest and did a double take at the massive levels. I have seen a few more since but none higher than +45%.

Let me know what you meat puppets have hidden behind your guns.
